Tourism is a major industry in every country in the world, be it local or International. It is one of the world’s biggest industries and the economies of many countries are driven, to a large extent, by their tourist trade.
W31 of the #MakeOverMonday Challenge talks about International travel from the United Kingdom. The data recorded spans a total of 34 years, from 1986 to 2020. During this period close to two million travels were recorded, which works out to an average of over 56000 travels abroad. (Hover over each year to view detailed statistics).
2019 saw the most number of travels recorded, with 93116 travels, triple of what was recorded thirty years ago. There was a dip in numbers in 1991, between 2007 and 2009 and 2012, owing to recession as shown in the report below. And of course, the COVID-19 pandemic has also had a HUGE impact in the number of travels this year.
