Stop and Search at airports by Ethnicity in the UK

The police in the United Kingdom are given, by the government, to stop and search any individual in the airports. An alarming rate of Black people are frisked. Though the number of frisks has reduced, from what it was in 2009, in 2019, the rate of blacks being stopped and searched is more than nine times the rate of white people being frisked.

Someone who is frisked is usually asked for his or her ethnicity. The circumstances of a stop and search may affect the accuracy of this information. As you can see below, the number of blacks being checked is significantly higher than the average checks that happen in the country and is at least nine times higher than the number of checks for any other ethnicity since 2009.

Though there has been a significant drop in the rate of frisks at the airport, Blacks are still being checked the most. There has been a sharp rise, both in the rate of frisks and, eventually, in the number of Blacks being frisked. In the above data viz, I have marked Blacks as people whose ethnicity is considered black, even if they are Mixed Blacks, so as to signify the discrimination that they face, even if they belong to mixed ethnicity.

There were 6 stop and searches for every 1,000 White people, compared to more than 54 for every 1,000 Black people in 2019. THIS DISCRIMINATION HAS TO END!
