This week’s #MakeOverMonday Challenge focuses on the death rates in the United Kingdom, based on ethnicity. I have longed to use a Radar Chart in my visualizations and I felt that this was the right time to use it.
As seen from the visualization, which takes the rate of death of white men as the baseline (1), Black people suffer the most, irrespective of their gender. Black Men are 2.65 times more likely than white men to die of COVID-19, while Black women are 1.9 times more likely than white women to die of the virus.
Chinese women are almost as likely as white women to die as they are 1.05 times more susceptible to death because of the virus compared to white women. Chinese men, on the other hand, are 1.4 times more likely to die because of the virus compared to white men. Indian men are almost twice as likely to die compared to white men!
Some of these statistics are staggering and mind-boggling indeed!
